Kew Gardens
I visited Kew Gardens a couple of time during my trip. It is very easy to get to from London using public transportation. There is a small snack bar and I enjoyed having scones and tea. The gift shop didn't have any t-shirts which was a disappointment but I did find some nice kitchen towels.
The first day I went to Kew I lucked into a tree tour. They offer this tour once a week for 15 people. The tour guide and I hit it off and after the tour she walked around with me for a bit showing me where the hedgehog lived, where the woodland area was and the Minka house (where the bamboo garden is located). She started our tour showing us a mural that was composed of wood retrieved after a rare hurricane at Kew.

One of my favorite sites in the garden is the greenhouse like building with a pond in its middle. The stunning water lilies were plentiful and colorful. I have never seen such large lilypads. It was interesting to see the underside of one of these huge pads.

I also enjoyed the conservatory that was filled with huge tropical plants. A beautiful wrought iron spiral staircase takes you up to the canopy level. The gardens in front of the conservatory was stunning.

The roses were definately past peak but there were plenty of color flowers that were in full bloom. Kew Gardens is huge and there is a lot to see.
