I love, love, love visiting public gardens and parks. Yosemite is by far my favorite spot on the earth that I have visited. Unfortunately, my computer crashed without me backing up my pictures from that trip so it is not included here. I'll have to get back there one day and take more pictures. Next time I go, I plan to bring a wildflower book with me.
Additionally, I enjoy butterfly conservatories and have visited several of them. I have included them in "garden and parks". So far, Key West wins the prize there. It was brand new when we visited and although somewhat smaller than some we've been to, the butterfly population "soared" and the folks working there were very friendly. I had a butterfly hitch a ride for over 1/2 hour on my leg.
To date, my favorite garden is Winterthur. I'd love to move that entire estate to my house here in Virginia... okay, I'd need more land to do that so it's not really very realistic but neither is someone deciding I should move in at Winterthur. The naturalist feel to the gardens there are 100% my taste. They have the most enchanting children's "Fairy Garden" and when I finally have grandkids, I'll be taking them to visit!
