Picnic Cake

Difficulty: Relatively Easy

My garden club hostessed other clubs for a District Meeting. The meeting was held in January and we decided to do a "Picnic in January" theme. I made this cake.

I used a box cake and baked according to instructions provided on the box. After cooling I iced the cake as normal. I used store bought fondant (I should have worked it more however) for the

tablecloth background. I used fruit by the foot (strawberry) to make the gingham pattern. Next I placed the tablecloth over the iced cake. I decorated the table cloth with black icing ants and a gummy hotdog. I used green sprinkles to make the grass below and of course had to add a few candy flowers.
