My neighbor and friend, Michelle wanted to go and see...

...the cherry blossoms.  She had recently moved next door from Boston and had never seen them before.  So on one of those lovely cool spring days in March 2004 we piled into my truck and headed for the tidal basin. We lucked out finding a great parking space.

Michelle (pictured) was not disappointed.  Our luck persisted when we realized that the cherry blossoms were at their peak.  We were both delighted.  It wasn't very crowded that day and we strolled around enjoying the amazing blooms while chatting away.  Even the occasional screaming kid didn't bug us that day.

We decided to walk around the area and were treated to a display of tulip beds.  Neither of us grow tulips (Michelle is a gardener too) but that didn't keep us for enjoying these. After walking around for a couple of hours the cool wind finally got to us so we headed home both very pleased with our visit to the tidal basin that day.
